- FASHION TO FROGS | MY HOPPY EASTER -

AN UNEXPECTED ADDITION TO MY WARDROBE - NEXT, £12

I knew my Easter Sunday was going to be a glorious day from the very moment I opened my eyes after a good nights sleep. I quickly remembered I was soon to see my sister, her hubby and their handsome little prince. And as if that wasn't exciting enough, within the first hour of being awake, my mum had discovered a parcel with my name on it hiding behind a flowerpot in the front garden. Absolutely clueless as to what this unforeseen surprise was (obviously one of many forgotten online orders), I swiftly ripped open the plastic bag to see what was inside. I had the biggest smile on my face when I pulled out this top (above) - Happy Easter to me from me! Definitely made up for my severe lack of easter eggs!

Mind you, I didn't expect to get any at all this year so was pleasantly surprised yesterday when a work colleague presented me with a Cadbury's Double Decker easter egg complete with a Cadbury's mug! Some people are just so lovely and thoughtful, it really makes a difference to your day.

MY ONE AND ONLY EGG, THANK YOU PETE :)

I don't know if our Easter is the same as other families', but we celebrate with a roast turkey dinner inc. all the trimmings (YUM) and easter crackers (FUN) - I suppose it's a lot like Christmas day, take two! The crackers were very cute and ickle and the prizes hidden inside kept my (just as ickle) nephew amused for quite some time!

It was lovely having us all together sat at the dinner table with the exception of my younger sister. Was such a shame she could not come home from Bath where she is studying, due to work commitments.

Fiona, I dedicate this post to you xx

CRACKERS ARE NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS...

- MY DREAM WEDDING DRESS -

So, one of my best friends is getting hitched at the end of the year and it has been requested that 'yours truly' is Maid of Honour. Of course I promptly, not to mention gladly, accepted. The bride-to-be and I are currently on the hunt for her wedding dress which is very exciting, emotional (in a good way) and, well, a lot of fun really! Personally, I have never envisioned myself getting married. Maybe this is because I have remained single for so long, but even as a little girl growing up I had no desire of a fairytale wedding. I am slightly disheartened by this lack of emotion with regards to marriage but I have not completely ruled out my 'big day' and I shall tell you why...
Last summer, I stumbled upon the pictures of Kate Moss' wedding. Now, this was a few weeks after she got married, which I was aware had happened, i'd just never seen the photographic evidence. There she was, in her vintage-style cream dress and matching floor-length veil, designed by John Galliano. Beautiful - from the twinkling embellishments to the sheer material that ruffled at the hemline. As soon as I saw the dress my immediate reaction was 'that's what i'm going to get married in!' And finally, I felt that spark.

Somewhere inside of me there is a desire to get married after all (even if it is just for the dress).

BEAUTIFUL. STUNNING. LOVE.

- 'PICK ME UP' GRAPHICS ARTS FAIR -

My first ever post(!) and what better way to christen my blog than with this...

On the 22nd March, Leigh, my friend and fellow art-lover, accompanied me on a day trip to London where we caught sight of the wonders Somerset House had to offer. Yes, it was that time of year again for 'Pick Me Up'! My first visit was last year and I can remember coming away feeling totally in awe of the work that was on display. This year that same feeling surfaced. I left Somerset House inspired and motivated to embark on my own projects and personal creations.

I am naturally a hands on creative and paper art is an area I have taken an immediate interest in. Previous to Pick Me Up, I studied the works of Zim and Zou (first two photos), so to stand in the presence of their paper sculptures was an exciting time for me! A uni project I am working on at the moment is a self-initiated brief. My chosen aspect of design for this is paper art and the different ways paper can be manipulated. Ladybird books from my childhood (80's vintage) is my source of material however, I have come to realise how immoral it would be to cut up/deface such precious memories and treasured beauty. I am currently working my way around this slight hiccup!

So here is a selection of my favourite pieces that were showcased at Pick Me Up. You can view more in 'My Photos'. All photographs were taken with my hi-tech (really not) Samsung Wave camera phone - I am soon to purchase a DSLR camera within the next few weeks...

Enjoy!
